Most focus timers are a stopwatch in a separate app that knows nothing about your schedule. This one is the block you already planned, split into intervals and drawn round itself.

## A rhythm drawn round the block

Open any blocking block and split it into stretches of focus and break. The dial draws each focus stretch on the ring, with the breaks between them in the wavy **Recharge** pattern, and it redraws live as you change the minutes. The rhythm sits inside the one block, so you can still select, drag, repeat and sync that block as a single thing.

## One screen, one block

Press **F** and Reassign opens a screen built for a single block: the real dial, your events and layers still on it, cropped to an arc and turning under a marker pinned at now. The turning is the countdown. Beside it a quiet panel names what you are in, how much is left, and what follows.

## Adjust it while it runs

Tap an interval circle to mark it done, tap a future one to finish early, or add and drop intervals as the block runs. A block without a rhythm is simply one stretch of focus, which is a valid way to use it.

## Marked intervals become the record

What you marked rolls into the day’s [reflection](https://reassign.ai/features/reflection) and the “Focus by day” and “Focus by area” panels in Time Insights. Claude can read and set a block’s rhythm over [MCP](https://reassign.ai/mcp) too.

## No pause, no ambient soundtrack

There is no pause button, because the timer is tied to your schedule rather than a stopwatch. A block that runs long can push the rest of the day instead, but only when the overrun will not otherwise fit, so nothing reshuffles your day on its own. There is no ambient animation and no sound, because the evidence is for taking distraction away, not for decorating it. Nothing is counted for you either: a finished interval is one you marked by hand. The screen stays awake while you work, and **Esc** puts you back on the day.

## FAQ

### Is this Pomodoro?

It is the same idea, attached to a real block rather than a floating 25 minutes. Set any focus and break lengths you like; your last few rhythms stay as presets.

### Why can I not pause it?

Because the timer is your schedule, not a stopwatch. Pausing would tell you a block is still running when the hour it occupied has already passed. If the block needs to move, move the block. Focus mode offers that move where you are standing: when a block runs long and the next one is too close to absorb the extra, it offers “Push the rest later”, which takes the full extension and slides the rest of the day along by the same amount.

### Do focus intervals and focus mode cost extra?

No. They share the same Pro entitlement, so there is no add-on. Pro is $8 a month or $72 a year, with a 7-day trial that needs no card.
