# The dial is today. These are the days after it.

> See the days ahead in a list view or a timeline view: an agenda grouped by day, thirty days at a time. Both are Pro, and drawing a day stays on the dial.

The dial answers one question well: what does today look like. One face, one day, and that is the point of it. But some questions are about the stretch rather than the day. What is already on Thursday. Where the free afternoons sit between now and the end of the month. For a long time the only way to ask those was to step the dial forward a day at a time and hold everything in between in your head. List and timeline answer them instead, and they hand you back to the dial the moment you want to change something. Both are Pro, for the same reason the horizon is: Free plans the next 5 days, and these read up to a year.

## List is the days ahead, in order

A running agenda grouped by day, thirty days at a time, up to a year out. Each day heading carries what is planned and links straight to that day on the dial. Microtasks hang under their block and tick in place, so you can clear a step without opening anything. Empty days drop out: the surface answers what is planned, not what a calendar grid looks like.

## Timeline is the same stretch, laid flat

Your dial cut open and rolled out sideways: days run left to right, each [area of life](https://reassign.ai/docs#areas-activity-types) gets its own lane, and a block reads at its real length. Turn on the [energy](https://reassign.ai/features/energy) or [weather](https://reassign.ai/features/weather) layer and it runs along the bottom. Zoom steps through five fixed rungs measured in days on screen, from nine hours up to six days.

## Nothing to keep in step

One day, one set of blocks, three ways of reading them. An edit in any mode is the same edit, and there is no second copy of anything to fall out of sync. Switch from the view control in the top bar, or press L and G on a desktop keyboard.

## Neither one is a drawing surface

You cannot drag, reorder, resize or draw a block in either view, and that is enforced rather than left for later. The moment a flat surface becomes a drawing surface there are two answers to where a day gets made, and the one that wins is whichever you happen to be looking at. So a click opens the same card the dial opens, to edit an event or mark how it went. List adds exactly one thing on top of that: you can tick a microtask step without opening anything.

## FAQ

### Can you drag and drop in the list or timeline view?

No. Neither view drags. Click an event to open it, edit it, or mark how it went. Moving, resizing and drawing a block all stay on the dial, which is where a day gets made.

### Will the list or timeline ever get dragging?

No. It is not on the roadmap and it is not waiting on engineering time. A flat surface you can draw on is a second place to plan, and then there are two answers to where a day gets made. The dial is the answer.

### Does Reassign have a week or month view?

Not a grid. The list view runs forward day by day, thirty days at a time and up to a year out, and the timeline view lays the same stretch flat with a lane per area, so you can read a week or a month without a seven-column grid. The dial stays one day, because that is the day you plan.

### Why are these Pro when the dial is free?

Because they read a range Free does not have. Free plans the next 5 days, so a list of the days ahead would show five rows and stop. Pro is what removes the horizon, and these two are how you read the days it gives you. Drawing and reshaping a day on the dial is free on every plan, and it is still the default.

### Can I see them before paying?

Yes. Both open on the real surface running against a sample week, not a screenshot of one. The 7-day Pro trial needs no card either.
