# The best visual timer apps for ADHD, on your phone (2026)

> Compare 10 visual timer options for ADHD by phone, Lock Screen and watch support, free limits, and price. Every fact checked on the maker's own page.

Published: 2026-10-23. Canonical: https://reassign.ai/resources/best-visual-timer-apps-adhd

I built Reassign, which appears last. Read it with that bias in mind. Every price, platform and feature below comes from the maker's own page or store listing, checked on 23 October 2026. We did not test each app by hand, and no app here treats ADHD.

**Want the classic shrinking red disk? Get Time Timer.** Want the countdown on your iPhone Lock Screen? Try Time's Up. Want a timer on every task in a list? Use Llama Life. On Android with no budget, start with Visual Timer - Countdown. If the timer should know about the rest of your day, look at Structured, Tiimo, or Reassign.

A visual timer does one job. It shows the time left as a shape, so you can see it shrink instead of decoding digits. That is why it is a common tool for [time blindness](https://reassign.ai/resources/what-is-time-blindness). On a phone, one more question matters: can you see the countdown without opening the app?

## Compare the apps

Prices are USD from the US App Store or Google Play unless the maker prices by region. "Visible outside the app" means a Lock Screen Live Activity, a widget, or a watch, as the maker states it.

## What to check before you choose

Ask the same four questions of every app on your shortlist:

1. **Shape:** does the time left shrink as a shape you can read across a room?
2. **Visibility:** can you see it on the Lock Screen, a widget, or your watch, without opening the app?
3. **Overrun:** when the timer ends and you keep going, does anything tell you how far over you are?
4. **Context:** does the timer know what comes next, or is it alone in a separate app?

A timer answers "how much of this task is left". It does not answer "what happens to my afternoon if I run long". For that, you need a planner. Our [time blindness apps comparison](https://reassign.ai/resources/best-apps-for-time-blindness) covers both kinds, and the [time blocking apps comparison](https://reassign.ai/resources/best-time-blocking-apps-adhd) covers the planners.

## Time Timer: the red disk

Time Timer comes from the makers of the original red disk timer. The disk gets smaller as time passes. Its [App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/time-timer/id332520417) runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, and the [Google Play listing](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.timetimer.android) covers Android.

The free version lets you create up to three timers and run several at once. Premium adds timer sequences for routines, Groups, sync across devices, and Quick Set buttons. The US App Store shows one in-app purchase at $9.95. In a reply on that listing, the developer calls Premium a yearly subscription.

**Choose it if:** you want the shape most people already know, on a phone and a watch.

**Wrong for you if:** you want the countdown on your Lock Screen or a widget; the listing names neither. The listing also says the app is "backed by research", but it cites no study, so treat that as the maker's claim.

## Time's Up: a countdown on the Lock Screen

Time's Up puts the countdown where you look. Its [App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/times-up-visual-timer/id1550456653) shows Live Activities on the Lock Screen, in the Dynamic Island, and on Apple Watch (iOS 18 required). A widget can start a timer on iOS 17 and later. Timer faces include photo reveal, pixelate, jigsaw, gradient, and clock styles.

It runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV. The free version allows five countdowns. Time's Up Unlimited is a one-time purchase of $5.99.

**Choose it if:** you lose track of the timer the moment the phone locks.

**Wrong for you if:** you use Android. It is Apple only, with no Android version on the listing.

## Visual Timer - Countdown: free on Android

[Visual Timer - Countdown](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.cwiesner.android.visualtimer) by Humane Digital sets a timer with one tap and shows the time left as a shape. You can save presets and change the alarm settings. It is free on Google Play, rated 4.6 from 24,769 ratings.

**Choose it if:** you are on Android and want a simple visual timer at no cost.

**Wrong for you if:** your blocks run longer than an hour. The maximum is one hour, by design, so a two-hour block needs a second timer or another app.

## Structured: a timer inside the timeline

Structured is a visual day planner, and its [focus timer](https://help.structured.app/en/articles/331010) runs on a task you already placed. Tap Focus Now on a running task, and a full-screen countdown runs to the end of the task, with its subtasks and notes. The countdown also shows as a Live Activity and in the Dynamic Island.

Pomodoro and Deep Focus intervals need Structured Pro. The help centre says the focus timer is on Apple devices only. Android and Structured Web are on its roadmap. Pro is sold monthly, yearly, or once, at local prices, per its [free versus Pro guide](https://help.structured.app/en/articles/1897986).

**Choose it if:** you want the timer and the day plan in one phone app. See the [Structured comparison](https://reassign.ai/resources/structured-alternative).

**Wrong for you if:** you use Android or the web. The focus timer is on Apple devices only, and its intervals need Pro.

## Tiimo: a planner with a focus timer

Tiimo is a visual planner with a built-in focus timer. Its [FAQ](https://www.tiimoapp.com/faq) lists iOS, iPad, Apple Watch, Android, Mac and the web. It says widgets and Live Activities keep Tiimo on your Home Screen, Lock Screen, or watch.

The free tier is on the iOS and Android apps only. The web planner needs Pro. The seven-day trial applies to yearly plans; a monthly plan is charged at once. Prices vary by location and show at checkout.

**Choose it if:** you want routines, prompts and a timer in one place, with a watch on your wrist.

**Wrong for you if:** you want only a timer, not a routine planner around it. The FAQ also does not say which timer features are on the free tier, so check that in the app before you pay. See the [Tiimo comparison](https://reassign.ai/resources/tiimo-alternative).

## Llama Life: a timer for every task

Llama Life puts a countdown on every task in your list and shows the total time and an estimated finish time. Its [App Store listing](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/adhd-organizer-llama-life/id6454469750) is for iPhone (iOS 16 or later). The update notes mention Live Activities, the Dynamic Island, and a web version.

After a 7-day trial, the US App Store lists $6/month or $39/year, plus $4/month and $29 for six months as other offers. Finished tasks get confetti.

**Choose it if:** your appointments live somewhere else and you need help to get through the next three tasks. See the [Llama Life comparison](https://reassign.ai/resources/llama-life-alternative).

**Wrong for you if:** you use Android; there is no Android app on the listing. Confirm the offer you get at checkout.

## ADHD Timer Collection: a linear day clock

[ADHD Timer Collection](https://apps.apple.com/us/app/adhd-timer-collection/id6634579526) is a set of timers with 12 display views, including analogue, digital, and a Zen mode. Its "visual linear clock" draws the workday as a horizontal timeline. When a task runs long, the rest of the session map updates. A spoken co-pilot announces transitions between tasks.

It is free, with no in-app purchases on the listing. It is designed for iPad and also runs on iPhone. The age rating is 13+.

**Choose it if:** you want spoken cues at each change and a picture of what an overrun costs.

**Wrong for you if:** you need one timer for one task, not a whole workday on a line. The listing also makes strong claims about ending time blindness. It cites no evidence, so we do not repeat them as fact.

## Sectograph: not a timer, a clock-face day

Sectograph is not a countdown timer. Its [Google Play listing](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=prox.lab.calclock) draws your calendar on a 12-hour clock face, with a 24-hour mode as an option. Each event is a sector, and you can see the time from now to the next event. It reads Google Calendar and your device calendar; Outlook is in beta. It has a home screen widget and a Wear OS app. Its [website](https://sectograph.com/) lists Android and iOS, with no web version.

**Choose it if:** the countdown you need is "how long until my next thing", on your home screen. See the [Sectograph comparison](https://reassign.ai/resources/sectograph-alternative).

**Wrong for you if:** you want a countdown for one task. It shows events that already sit in your calendar: a reader, not a focus timer.

## The timer you already have

The iPhone Clock app lets you [label a timer](https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/set-timers-iph8241d6b2a/ios), run several at once, and reuse recent ones. The timer keeps running when you switch apps or the phone sleeps. When it ends, an alert shows at the top of the screen, and you can tap Repeat or Stop on the Lock Screen.

Google's Clock app documents [timer settings](https://support.google.com/clock/answer/2841106) for the sound, a slowly rising volume, and vibration.

**Choose it if:** you want to test the habit before you install anything.

**Wrong for you if:** digits slide past you. Neither help page describes a countdown as a shape, and that is the gap a visual timer fills.

## Reassign: the timer is your planned block

Reassign is our [24-hour circular day planner](https://reassign.ai/resources/circular-planner-for-adhd), and [focus mode](https://reassign.ai/features/focus) is its timer. Press **F** on a block. The real dial crops to an arc and turns under a marker pinned at now. The turning is the countdown, and your next events stay on the arc, so you can see what comes after.

Choose 25/5, 50/10, 90/15, custom lengths, or no breaks. A pause draws as a break, so break time never counts as focus. **Skip break** starts the next focus now. **Finish** ends the session, with Undo. If the block runs long and the next one sits too close, **Push the rest later** slides the rest of the day along. Focus and break bells and an optional metronome are in the sound controls. Intervals you mark roll into the day's reflection. [How focus mode works](https://reassign.ai/resources/focus-mode-timer) goes into more detail.

**Choose it if:** your timer keeps ending in a day you cannot see. Here, the timer and the day are the same picture.

**Wrong for you if:** you want a countdown on your Lock Screen or a phone-first app. Reassign is a web app you can install to your Home Screen, not a native app. It has no phone widget today; widgets are marked Soon on the roadmap. Optional [block and break alerts](https://reassign.ai/resources/block-and-break-alerts) nudge you when a block starts or a break begins, on every device where you turn them on. On iPhone and iPad, you must add Reassign to the Home Screen first. It needs an internet connection to save. There is no free plan: Pro is [$14/month or $120/year](https://reassign.ai/pricing) after a 7-day no-card trial. To test the round day for free first, print the [24-hour dial](https://reassign.ai/circular-day-planner).

## How to use a visual timer

1. **One timer, one task.** Name the timer after the task, not "Timer 1".
2. **Put it where your eyes are.** Use the Lock Screen, a watch, or a phone on a stand.
3. **Count the overrun.** When it ends and you keep going, write down how far over you ran.
4. **Feed the number back.** Next time, size the same task by the real number, not the hope.

A timer makes one stretch of time visible. A plan makes the whole day visible. If the timer works but the afternoon still disappears, the next step is a planner. Start with the [time blocking apps comparison](https://reassign.ai/resources/best-time-blocking-apps-adhd).

## FAQ

### Are visual timers good for ADHD?

A visual timer shows the time left as a shape that shrinks, so you do not have to read and convert a number. Many people with ADHD find that easier to notice. This comparison does not test outcomes, and no app here treats ADHD. Treat a timer as a tool to try for a week, not as a treatment.

### What is the best visual timer app for ADHD?

Pick by the problem. Time Timer is the classic shrinking red disk on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Android. Time's Up puts the countdown on the iPhone Lock Screen and Dynamic Island. Llama Life times each task in a list. Structured and Tiimo add a timer to a visual day planner. Reassign runs the timer on the 24-hour dial you already planned. Checked on 23 October 2026.

### What is the best free visual timer app?

Visual Timer - Countdown on Android is free on Google Play, with timers up to one hour. Time Timer is free for up to three timers. Time's Up is free for five countdowns, then $5.99 once. ADHD Timer Collection is free on the App Store with no in-app purchases listed. The iPhone and Android clock apps are free but count down in numbers. Checked on 23 October 2026.

### How do I keep a timer visible on my phone screen?

On iPhone, choose an app that runs a Live Activity. Time's Up, Structured, Tiimo and Llama Life all state Lock Screen or Dynamic Island support on their own pages. On Android, Sectograph offers a home screen widget for your day. Time Timer lists no widget. Reassign has no phone widget today; it sends block and break alerts instead.

### How do I use a visual timer with ADHD?

Set one timer for one task. Put the timer where your eyes already are: the Lock Screen, a watch, or a desk stand. When it ends, write down how far over you ran. After a week, use those numbers to size the same tasks in your plan.

### What is the best visual timer for kids with ADHD?

Time Timer describes itself as made for families, classrooms and therapy sessions, and it was invented by a parent for a child. Time's Up offers photo reveal and jigsaw faces. We did not test any app with children, so try the free tier first and watch how your child reacts to the countdown.

### Does Reassign work as a visual timer on a phone?

Yes, in the browser or as an installed web app. Focus mode turns the real dial under a marker pinned at now. It is not a native app and has no Lock Screen countdown or widget. It needs Pro: $14/month or $120/year after a 7-day no-card trial, and there is no free plan.
