# Looking for a Llama Life alternative

> An honest Llama Life alternative, from someone who built one. Where the one-task timer wins, where a 24-hour dial wins, and how to tell which one you need.

Published: 2026-09-29. Canonical: https://reassign.ai/resources/llama-life-alternative

First, the bias. Reassign is mine. I built it because my own day kept vanishing into a list, and every sentence below carries that bias. Everything I say about Llama Life comes from its [website][llama-site], [help centre][llama-presets], [US App Store listing][llama-apple] and [Google Play listing][llama-google], checked on 2026-09-29. Where this page and their listing disagree, the listing wins. Where I could not confirm something on a page Llama Life owns, I leave it out.

Second, the thing a comparison page rarely admits: **Llama Life is very good at the one job it picked.** Its [store listing][llama-apple] says it plainly: it is "designed to help you focus on ONE task at a time - so you're not just making lists, you're actually getting THROUGH them!" You write a list, give every task a countdown, and work down it. The founder, Marie, says on the website that she made it after she was "diagnosed with ADHD, later in life as an adult." It shows. If a short list with a timer on each line is what gets you moving, there is no clever reason to leave.

## The only question that matters

Does your day fall apart *inside* the task, or *between* the tasks?

If it falls apart inside the task, you sit down to answer one email and surface an hour later in a different tab, then one task with one countdown is the right tool. Llama Life is that tool, and this page will not talk you out of it.

If it falls apart between the tasks, the problem is different. The list finished at 4:40 instead of 3:30, the gym slot you meant to keep is gone, and the evening became a victim of an afternoon that ran long. A better list does not fix that, because the list never knew it lived inside a day. That is the half of [time blindness](https://reassign.ai/resources/what-is-time-blindness) that a list hides.

Here is the short version. Llama Life is one task at a time with a timer and an estimated finish time. Reassign is one block at a time with the whole 24-hour day visible around it. Different questions. Pick the one that is yours.

## What Llama Life actually gives you

Only what I could confirm on Llama Life's own pages and store listings, checked on 2026-09-29.

**The model.** A list of tasks, each with its own countdown. The [App Store listing][llama-apple] calls this timeboxing: "the idea is to create a (positive) constraint around the time we have to do something." It also shows "your total List Time, and the estimated finishing time, so you can be more aware of time passing, and plan your day." That finish time is the feature people mention most, and it is a good one.

**Overtime.** The [website][llama-site] describes it in one line: "When the timer hits 00:00, Llama Life starts counting the extra time spent, so all time is accounted for." It is for the times "you're in flow, so may want to keep working after the timer ends."

**Lists and presets.** Preset Lists save the tasks that come back often. Its [help centre][llama-presets] says "you will be able to load the entire list, or select individual tasks from the preset list." A Not-Now list holds the tasks you are not doing now, and the June 2026 update lets you see and clear them in the Report view.

**Fun, on purpose.** "You get confetti (woo hoo!) when you finish a task", plus colour and emoji on every line. I found no streaks or badges on any Llama Life page.

**Integrations.** A [release note on the App Store listing][llama-apple] fixes a bug with "pulling your Todoist tasks (due today) into Llama Life". The phone app has Live Activities and Dynamic Island, from a November 2024 update.

**Platforms.** The App Store listing says "Only for iPhone". Google Play lists phone and tablet. The website is the web app itself, and its pricing panel says "Use on desktop, iOS and Android."

**Trial.** The [website][llama-site] offers seven days with no card required. Afterward, you [choose a monthly or annual subscription][llama-trial]. The trial does not charge automatically.

## Three real differences

### 1. A list with a timer versus a block on a day

In Llama Life the unit is the task, and time lives inside it: this task is 25 minutes, the list is three hours, you finish at 4:10. The day outside the list is a finish time.

In Reassign the unit is the block, and the block is a wedge on a [24-hour ring](https://reassign.ai/features/the-dial) with a real start and a real end. The meeting at 2, the school run at 3:15 and the block you are in now sit on the same face. A task list becomes blocks, and a block can carry a [microtasks](https://reassign.ai/features/microtasks) checklist inside it. What you lose is the fast list: type ten lines, press play. What you gain is that "this will take three hours" and "this runs into the school run" are the same picture.

### 2. Confetti versus nothing

Llama Life celebrates each finished task with confetti, and its listing calls that "very importantly" part of the deal. It is a small, warm reward, not a streak, and I do not want to paint it as a guilt machine. Nothing I read on its pages counts days or breaks a run.

Reassign ships none of it. No confetti, no streak, no badge. A block you skip does nothing: nothing counts up, nothing turns red, nothing resets. It is a position, not a gap, and the reasoning is in [why ADHD planners get abandoned](https://reassign.ai/resources/why-adhd-planners-get-abandoned). If confetti genuinely helps you start the next task, that is a point for Llama Life, and you should weigh it as one.

### 3. What fills the day

Llama Life pulls in today's Todoist tasks, per a release note. I found no calendar sync on its pages. Reassign has two-way sync (Pro) with [Google Calendar](https://reassign.ai/resources/google-calendar-sync), [Outlook Calendar](https://reassign.ai/resources/outlook-calendar-sync), [Todoist](https://reassign.ai/resources/todoist-time-blocking), Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do, Linear and TickTick. Meetings land on the dial as blocks, and edits flow back both ways. [Ask AI](https://reassign.ai/features/ask-ai) in the ⌘K palette turns a braindump into a plan you review before it applies. It can also delete and clear, with review, so I will not claim it cannot. Braindump alone cannot delete anything. Over [MCP](https://reassign.ai/mcp), Claude or ChatGPT can read and edit the whole day.

## Is Reassign a hyperfocus planner?

No. Reassign does not give you hyperfocus, and it never claims to. Nothing on a screen can hand you that state. What Reassign does is protect the block you chose and pull you out at the end of it, because the hard part is often not getting in. It is getting out before the task eats the afternoon.

Four pieces do that work, all in Pro:

- **[Focus mode](https://reassign.ai/features/focus) shows a pause for what it is.** Press `F` and one block fills the screen: the real dial, cropped to an arc, turning under a marker pinned at now. Press Pause and the arc draws a break at now; every later interval moves by its length, and Continue picks the rhythm up again. There is no skip control. A pause you can see is harder to stretch into the rest of the afternoon.
- **Focus intervals.** Choose 25/5, 50/10, 90/15, a custom rhythm, or no breaks before you start. The rhythm is drawn on the ring inside the block.
- **[Block and break alerts](https://reassign.ai/resources/block-and-break-alerts).** A nudge when a block starts, when a break begins, and when focus resumes, on every device where you turn them on. On iPhone and iPad, add Reassign to your Home Screen first.
- **The now indicator.** A red hand on the dial at the current time, with past blocks faded. You see what is left of the day, not only what is left of the task.

This is where the two apps honestly split. Llama Life's Overtime keeps counting when the timer hits zero, so you can stay in flow and still see the real cost. Reassign treats the end of the block as an edge. When the time is up, the plain extend is the default. When the next block is too close to absorb the extra time, focus mode also offers **Push the rest later**, which slides the rest of the day along by the same amount. Nothing moves on its own, and one undo puts it back. Neither choice is wrong. If you want to be left alone in the flow, Overtime is kinder. If you want a firm edge, the block is the edge.

## Where Llama Life is straightforwardly better

Not a rhetorical section. These are real, and if two or more are load-bearing for you, stay.

- **Price.** Llama Life is cheaper. On the US App Store the annual purchase is $39.00 and the monthly is $6.00, among other offers. Reassign Pro is $120/year or $14/month.
- **Native phone apps.** An iPhone app with Live Activities and Dynamic Island, and an Android app on Google Play. Reassign is a web app you can install to your home screen, with internet required to save changes. There is no App Store build and no Google Play build today. Our own iPhone companion app is being built, and home-screen widgets are Soon, but neither is available now.
- **Simplicity.** A list, a timer, a finish time. Reassign has areas, activity types, a dial, day modes and sync. That is more to learn, and some days you do not want to learn anything.
- **A quick list-of-tasks start.** Type the tasks, press play, go. In Reassign you place blocks on a day first. When the day is a heap and you only need to start, the list wins.
- **Overtime.** It counts the extra time when you stay in flow. Reassign asks you to extend or move the day instead.

## Where it is a wash

- **A no-card trial.** Llama Life offers 7 days free with no credit card. Reassign offers 7 days of Pro with no card and no automatic charge.
- **Looking back.** Llama Life has a Report view. Reassign has [reflection](https://reassign.ai/features/reflection), where you mark each block as happened, changed or did not, and read [the day you planned against the day you lived](https://reassign.ai/resources/daily-review-planned-vs-lived).

## Where this one is better

- **The whole day at once.** All 24 hours on one ring, the block you are in drawn next to everything else, and [the reason a day is round](https://reassign.ai/resources/why-a-day-is-round) rather than long.
- **A firm edge on the block.** Focus mode with a pause you can see, focus intervals, block and break alerts, and the now indicator, as above.
- **The day moves when the block does.** Push the rest later, with one undo.
- **Two-way sync** with seven calendars and task apps, so the meetings you have to fit around are already on the dial.
- **An agent surface.** Ask AI in the palette, 13 planning tools over MCP, and a public REST API.
- **A browser on any desk.** Reassign opens in any tab, and the [Chrome extension](https://reassign.ai/extension) puts today's dial on every new tab.
- **No rewards or streaks**, by design.

All these planner features are included in Pro and the 7-day no-card trial. There is no permanent Free plan.

## On price

Reassign has one Pro plan at $14/month or $120/year ($10/month billed yearly), with a 7-day no-card trial that never charges on its own. After the trial, a subscription is required to use the planner; your data stays. [See plans and transition terms](https://reassign.ai/pricing#price-change).

Llama Life's [US App Store listing][llama-apple], checked on 2026-09-29, lists four in-app purchases: Monthly $6.00, Annual $39.00, Monthly $4.00 and 6-Monthly $29.00. The SKU names do not say which one a new subscriber gets. Those are US figures from one store on one day, and I could not read the web checkout price on its site. Check your own listing before you hold me to any of them. By every number I could read, Llama Life costs less than Reassign Pro. If price decides it, the decision is made, and it is not us.

What the difference buys is the day around the task and the sync into it. That is worth an evening, not faith.

## If you were also looking at Routinery

Different app, a close cousin. Routinery runs a routine as a chain of timed steps and reads each one out loud, so if you want guidance through a sequence, [the Routinery comparison](https://reassign.ai/resources/routinery-alternative) is the one to read. For the wider field of timers and timelines, see [the best time-blocking apps for ADHD](https://reassign.ai/resources/best-time-blocking-apps-adhd) and the rest of the [comparisons hub](https://reassign.ai/resources/comparisons).

## How to decide in one evening

Do not read more comparisons. Do this instead.

Tomorrow, run your morning list in Llama Life and watch the finish time. Then, at 3pm, when something has already gone wrong, open the day in Reassign and look at what the morning did to the evening. One of those two moments is the one you keep losing. If it is the first, the task in front of you, keep Llama Life. It is a good timer, and it is cheaper. If it is the second, the day around the task, the timer was never the problem, and a round day is worth the evening.

## FAQ

### What is the best Llama Life alternative?

It depends on what stopped working. If you still want one task at a time with a countdown and an estimated finish time, there is no honest reason to leave, because that is the thing Llama Life does best, and it costs less than Reassign. If the list runs fine but the day around it keeps surprising you, you want a day planner rather than a task timer. Reassign draws all 24 hours on one dial, you work one block at a time in focus mode, and the rest of the day stays visible around it. The dial, focus mode, focus intervals, block and break alerts, and calendar sync are all included in Pro and the 7-day no-card trial.

### How much does Llama Life cost?

On 29 September 2026 the US App Store listing showed four in-app purchases: Monthly $6.00, Annual $39.00, a second Monthly at $4.00, and 6-Monthly $29.00. The listing does not say which one a new subscriber gets, and prices vary by region. Llama Life offers a 7-day free trial, and its website says no credit card is required. After the trial it is a paid subscription. By every number I could read, it is cheaper than Reassign Pro at $14/month or $120/year.

### Is Llama Life on Android and desktop?

Yes. Llama Life has an iPhone app on the App Store (the listing says Only for iPhone), an Android app on Google Play for phone and tablet, and a web app at llamalife.co. Its own pricing panel says Use on desktop, iOS and Android.

### Is Reassign a hyperfocus planner?

No, and it does not claim to give you hyperfocus. What it does is protect the block you chose and pull you out at the end of it. In focus mode, a pause draws as a break on the arc, so break time never counts as focus and the block still ends where you planned it. Focus intervals split the block into focus and break stretches. Block and break alerts nudge you when a block starts, a break begins, or focus resumes. The now indicator on the dial shows where you are in the whole day. All of it is included in Pro.

### Does Reassign have an app like Llama Life?

Not a native one. Reassign is a responsive web app you can install to your home screen, and it needs internet to save changes. There is no App Store or Google Play build today, and no Live Activity. Our own iPhone companion app is being built, and home-screen widgets are Soon, with no date yet. There is a Chrome extension that puts today's dial on every new tab. If a native phone app matters to you, that is a real reason to stay with Llama Life.

### Does Llama Life have streaks?

I found no streaks on its App Store listing, Google Play listing, or website. It does celebrate a finished task with confetti, and the listing says so with some joy. Reassign has no streaks, badges, or confetti, by design.
