# Looking for a Pretty Progress alternative

> An honest Pretty Progress alternative, from someone who built one. Pretty Progress shows how much of the day has passed; Reassign shows what the day is made of.

Published: 2026-09-29. Canonical: https://reassign.ai/resources/pretty-progress-alternative

First, the bias. Reassign is mine. I built it because my own day kept disappearing between a task list and a calendar, so keep that on the table while you read. Everything I say about Pretty Progress comes from its [US App Store listing][pretty-apple], [Google Play listing][pretty-google] and [website][pretty-site], all checked on 29 September 2026. Where I could not confirm something on one of those pages, it is not on this one.

Second, the answer most people came for: **if you want a home-screen, lock-screen or Apple Watch widget today, Pretty Progress does that and Reassign does not.** Reassign's own iPhone app, a companion to the dial, is being built. Widgets and wearables are on the Soon list, with no date. If the widget is the whole point, [install Pretty Progress][pretty-site] and close this tab.

If you are still here, the useful question is narrower.

## Pretty Progress or Reassign: which one do you need?

Pretty Progress tells you **how much** of a day, a year or a countdown has passed. Reassign shows you **what** the day is made of, on a 24-hour dial, and lets you plan it.

Those are different jobs. A progress bar that says most of the day is gone is honest and useful: it is a clock that refuses to be ignored. It does not tell you that the hours left hold a meeting, the school run and the two hours you promised yourself for the side project. That is the part a planner is for.

So ask what fails for you. If the problem is that time slides by without you feeling it, a bar on the lock screen helps, and Pretty Progress is very good at bars. If the problem is that 6pm arrives and the evening was already full, you need to see the contents, not the percentage. That is [time blindness](https://reassign.ai/resources/what-is-time-blindness) in its planning form, and it is the one Reassign was built for.

A person who wants to "see my day pass" may want both. That is a real answer, not a hedge.

## What Pretty Progress actually gives you

Only what I could confirm on its own pages on 29 September 2026.

**Countdowns and progress bars as widgets.** In the [App Store listing's words][pretty-apple], it can "Count up & down towards a specific date or with a timer", create recurring events, and show "the percentage of completion, how much time is left or how much time has past". It ships six templates for the Home Screen, the Lock Screen, StandBy and Watch complications, with small, medium and large Home Screen sizes and all complication sizes.

**Day, week, month and year progress.** The default daily, weekly, monthly and yearly progress widgets are part of the free version.

**Apple Calendar and Reminders import.** The [iOS listing][pretty-apple] says it can "Synchronize and import Apple Calendar events and Reminders", and the [website][pretty-site] says this turns your existing plans into countdown widgets. The Google Play listing does not mention calendar import, so treat it as an iOS feature.

**Everywhere Apple is.** iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple silicon Macs, where it runs as the iPad build (the listing says "Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS"). iCloud sync keeps countdowns the same across them. There is also an Android app on [Google Play][pretty-google].

**A free tier.** Verbatim from the [App Store listing][pretty-apple]: "The free version of Pretty Progress includes four custom countdown widgets with two designs, the default daily, weekly, monthly and yearly progress and some customization options."

**Scale and care.** 4.7 from about 3,000 ratings on the [App Store][pretty-apple], 4.4 from about 2,290 reviews and over 100,000 downloads on [Google Play][pretty-google]. The [App Store version history][pretty-apple] showed two releases in September 2026: 2.1.7 on 21 September, then 2.1.8 in the days before I checked. This app is maintained.

## What Reassign has today

Reassign is a 24-hour circular day planner. It runs in the browser and as an installable web app (a PWA). Everything below is in Pro, which includes the 7-day trial with no card.

- **[The dial](https://reassign.ai/features/the-dial).** All 24 hours on one ring, midnight at the top and noon at the bottom. You drag on the ring to make a block, and grab a block to move or resize it.
- **A live now indicator.** A red hand and bead at the current time, with the blocks already behind it faded. It answers "how much day is left" as a shape: you see the spent arc and what fills the rest.
- **Two-way sync** with Google Calendar, Outlook Calendar, Todoist, Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do, Linear and TickTick. Move a block and the event moves; change the event and the block moves.
- **The Chrome extension new tab.** [The Reassign extension](https://reassign.ai/resources/reassign-chrome-extension) puts your live dial on every new tab, so the day is in front of you each time you open one. Installation is free; opening your plan needs trial or paid access. Chrome only.
- **On your iPhone Home Screen,** as the installed web app. Block and break alerts work there once you install it to the Home Screen. It is an app icon that opens the dial, not a widget.

And a view-only path: connect a calendar, draw nothing, and the dial becomes [a clock view of the day you already have](https://reassign.ai/resources/calendar-as-a-clock). That is the closest thing Reassign has to a progress widget, and it lives in a tab, not on a lock screen.

## Three real differences

### 1. A percentage versus the contents

Pretty Progress compresses time into one number or one bar. That is its strength: you read it in half a second. Reassign refuses to compress it. Every block is drawn at its real length, so you read the day in two seconds instead, and you see which hours are spoken for.

### 2. A glance versus a plan

Pretty Progress is for looking. You set a countdown once and it runs. Reassign is for doing: the day you planned at 8am is wrong by 3pm, and you drag the afternoon back into shape on the same dial. If you never want to plan, that is a cost with no payoff, and Pretty Progress is the better fit.

### 3. What each of us decided not to build

Pretty Progress sends notifications "every day, week, month or year after your habit streak", and the Play listing suggests counting up to see your streak. For many people a streak count is exactly the motivation they want.

Reassign ships no streaks, no badges and no guilt counters, on purpose. Missing a day breaks nothing. That is a position, set out in [why ADHD planners get abandoned](https://reassign.ai/resources/why-adhd-planners-get-abandoned). If a streak keeps you going, it is a point for Pretty Progress. If a broken streak is what makes you stop opening an app, it is a point for us.

## Where Pretty Progress is straightforwardly better

This is not a courtesy section. Each item is a reason to keep Pretty Progress.

- **Native widgets.** Home Screen, Lock Screen and StandBy, in three sizes and six templates. Reassign has no widget today.
- **Apple Watch.** Complications in every size. Reassign has no Watch app; wearables are Soon.
- **Price and a free tier.** Four widgets and the day, week, month and year bars cost nothing, and the annual Pro subscription costs a fraction of Reassign's annual price. Reassign has no free plan.
- **Simplicity.** Set a date, pick a design, done. There is nothing to plan and nothing to keep up.
- **Long horizons.** Days until a trip, a wedding or retirement, and how much of the year is gone. Reassign's dial shows one day, list and timeline views read the days ahead, and there is no countdown to a date months away.
- **Android and Apple in one product.** Apps on both stores, plus iPad and Mac.

If your need is on that list, keep Pretty Progress. Losing that reader honestly beats winning one badly.

## Where this one is better

- **It shows what the day holds,** not only how much of it is gone. Every block at its real length, on one 24-hour ring.
- **It is a planner.** Drag to create, move and resize blocks as the day changes.
- **Two-way sync** with seven calendars and task apps, so the dial and your calendar stay the same day.
- **It is on the big screen,** in a browser tab, as an installed web app, and on every Chrome new tab.
- **Planning help around the dial:** Ask AI, braindump, microtasks, focus mode, block and break alerts, an MCP server for Claude or ChatGPT, and a REST API. All Pro.
- **No streaks or gamification,** by design.

All these planner features are included in Pro and the 7-day no-card trial. There is no permanent Free plan.

## On price

Reassign has one Pro plan at $14/month or $120/year ($10/month billed yearly), with a 7-day trial, no card, and no automatic charge. After the trial, a subscription is required to use the planner; your data stays. [See plans and transition terms](https://reassign.ai/pricing#price-change).

Pretty Progress, on 29 September 2026: **free** with four widgets, and Pro as an in-app purchase. The [US App Store listing's subscription block][pretty-apple] featured an annual plan at **$24.99**, a weekly plan with a free trial, and a **$59.99** lifetime purchase. Its full in-app list ran from $4.99 to $59.99, and it shows several items under the same name at different prices, so check the price in the app before you buy. On a yearly plan, Pretty Progress is much cheaper, and I am not going to pretend otherwise. It buys a better widget; Reassign's price buys a planning canvas with sync.

## Can you use both?

Yes, and for some people that is the right setup. Keep a Pretty Progress bar on the lock screen for the feeling of the day passing, and keep the Reassign dial in a tab or on the new tab for what fills it. The iOS listing says Pretty Progress imports Apple Calendar events. I have not tested whether events that Reassign syncs to Google Calendar or Outlook then show up there; that depends on which calendar accounts your iPhone has.

If you are still weighing round planners as a whole category, [the roundup of circular and 24-hour planner apps](https://reassign.ai/resources/circular-planner-apps) puts the dial-shaped options in one table, by platform and price. The other comparisons live in [the comparisons hub](https://reassign.ai/resources/comparisons).

## How to decide in one evening

Ask one question: when the day goes wrong, is it because you did not feel it pass, or because you did not see what was in it?

If you did not feel it pass, put a Pretty Progress daily bar on your lock screen tonight. You will know within two days if it helps.

If you did not see what was in it, put tomorrow on the dial tonight, the whole day including the boring parts. At 3pm tomorrow, when something has already moved, look at it and drag the afternoon back into shape.

One shows you the day draining. The other shows you what it is draining into. Pick the problem you actually have.

## FAQ

### What is the best Pretty Progress alternative?

It depends on the job. If you want a countdown or a day-progress bar on your home screen, lock screen or Apple Watch, Pretty Progress already does that well, and Reassign does not: Reassign's iPhone companion is being built, and widgets and wearables are Soon. If you want to see what your day is made of, and plan it, Reassign draws all 24 hours on one dial with a live now indicator, in the browser, as an installable web app, or on every Chrome new tab. Many people who want to see the day pass could use both.

### Is Pretty Progress free?

Partly. On 29 September 2026, the App Store listing said the free version includes four custom countdown widgets with two designs, the default daily, weekly, monthly and yearly progress, and some customization. Pro is an in-app purchase: the listing featured an annual subscription at $24.99, a weekly plan with a free trial, and a $59.99 lifetime purchase, and its full in-app list ran from $4.99 to $59.99. Reassign has no free plan: Pro is $14 a month or $120 a year, with a 7-day trial and no card.

### Does Reassign have a home-screen widget or an Apple Watch app?

No, not today. Reassign's iPhone companion is being built, and home-screen widgets and wearables are on the Soon list, with no date. What works on an iPhone today is the installable web app: add Reassign to your Home Screen and you get the dial, the now indicator, and block and break alerts. If a widget or a Watch complication is what you need right now, Pretty Progress is the better choice.

### Can Pretty Progress plan my day?

No, and it does not claim to. It counts up and down to dates and timers, shows the percentage of a day, week, month or year that has passed, and on iOS it can import Apple Calendar events and Reminders as countdowns. You still plan the day somewhere else. Reassign is the planning side: you draw blocks on a 24-hour dial, move them as the day changes, and it syncs two-way with Google Calendar, Outlook, Todoist, Google Tasks, Microsoft To Do, Linear and TickTick.

### Is Pretty Progress on Android?

Yes. It has a Google Play listing with over 100,000 downloads, updated on 10 September 2026 when I checked. The Apple Watch, StandBy, Mac and Apple Calendar and Reminders features come from the iOS listing, and the Play listing does not name them. Reassign runs in any modern browser, on Android or iPhone, as an installable web app.

### Does Reassign show how much of the day has passed?

Yes, as a shape rather than a percentage. The live now indicator is a red hand on the 24-hour dial, and the blocks already behind it fade, so the spent part of the day and the part that is left are both visible at once. There is no percentage number and no year or month progress bar. The dial shows one day; list and timeline views read the days ahead.
