Grab a handful of the day
Select several blocks at once, edit them together, and copy or move them onto another day. The repeating shape of your week, without redrawing it every time.
Look at a week and you’ll see the same shapes repeat. The morning workout. The standing block for deep work. The three recurring meetings that always land together. Some of it is a proper recurring event. A lot of it isn’t, quite. It’s the loose regularity of a real life: things that happen most days, in roughly the same order, but not on a rule you’d bother setting.
Redrawing that by hand, block by block, every time you plan a fresh day, is exactly the kind of friction that makes people stop planning. The day already has a shape. You shouldn’t have to redraw it from nothing.
So the dial lets you grab a handful of it at once.
Select several blocks, not just one
On the desktop dial, a selection is as many blocks as you want, not one at a time. Shift-click to add blocks one by one. Drag an arc-marquee across the ring to sweep up everything your arc passes. Or press Cmd-A to select every eligible block on the day at once.
The selected blocks gather under a single card, joined by leader lines back to their places on the ring, so you can always see exactly what you’ve got hold of.
Edit them together
Once several blocks are selected, the changes they have in common become one edit. Set them all to the same area or activity type, flip their kind, change how they sync to a calendar, and save the whole set in a single move. Drag the group and it slides as one, the members holding their spacing. Drop it over an existing block and the overlap slims to a non-blocking band, the same as moving a single block.
You can also delete the group, or park the whole thing in the backlog at once, when a stretch of the day comes off the plan together.
Copy the shape onto another day
This is where the repeating week gets easy. Select the blocks, press Cmd-C to copy them or Cmd-X to cut them, move to the day you want, and press Cmd-V. Reassign finds room and drops them in, keeping their shape. The same clipboard you already know from everything else, working across days on the dial.
Prefer menus to shortcuts? The selection’s card carries Copy to day and Move to day for the same result. And on an empty stretch of another day, Paste here lands the clipboard right at the hour you clicked, instead of wherever it happened to sit before.
If some of what you paste doesn’t fit the target day, the blocks that fit land and the rest stay on the clipboard, so a partial fit never strands a block or quietly drops it. When you cut a group and only some of it fits, the leftovers stay dimmed on the day they came from until you find them a slot. Either way, you see exactly what made it and what’s still waiting.
The week, reused instead of redrawn
A recurring event is the right tool for the parts of a week that follow a rule. Multi-select is the tool for the parts that follow a pattern: the loose, repeating shape you recognise but never formalised. Grab it, tune it, and drop it onto tomorrow, so planning the next day starts from the shape you already know instead of a blank ring.
Selecting several blocks and batch-editing them is part of Reassign Pro, $8/month or $72/year, with a 7-day trial and no card to start, on the desktop dial. Shifting the whole day and moving a single block to another day are free. And once a day’s shape is on the dial, you can always hand it to Claude to reshape from the chat. See what’s next on the roadmap, or open the dial and draw your first block.
Frequently asked
- Can I select more than one block at a time on the dial?
- Yes. On the desktop dial, Shift-click blocks to add them to a selection, drag an arc-marquee across the ring to sweep several at once, or press Cmd-A to select every eligible block on the day. Multi-select is part of Reassign Pro.
- How do I copy events from one day to another?
- Select the blocks you want, press Cmd-C to copy or Cmd-X to cut, move to the other day, and press Cmd-V to paste. Reassign finds room and drops them in. You can also use "Copy to day" or "Move to day" straight from the selection's card.
- Can I edit several blocks at once?
- Yes. With more than one block selected, a single card lets you change the fields they share, area, activity type, kind, and calendar sync, and save them all in one move. You can also move, delete, or park the whole group together.
- What happens to pasted blocks that don't fit?
- The ones that fit land, and the rest stay on the clipboard so you can place them elsewhere, instead of being stranded or silently dropped. When you cut a group and only some fit, the leftovers stay dimmed on the day they came from, as a pending cut, until they land.
- Is selecting multiple blocks a paid feature?
- Yes. Multi-select and batch editing are part of Reassign Pro, on the desktop dial. Shifting the day and moving a single block to another day are free.
