Reassign vs Linear: give assigned issues working time

Keep team projects in Linear. Compare its issue views with Reassign's daily time blocking, including estimate-based durations and two-way issue sync.

An open notebook beside a 24-hour ring, with one gold arc block following a dotted path into the day.

Keep Linear for the team’s work. Add Reassign if you need help deciding when your part of that work fits around meetings. I build Reassign, and I would not use it to replace a team issue tracker.

Linear’s linked documentation and pricing were checked on 7 October 2026. The distinction here is between managing an issue and reserving time to work on it.

When Linear is enough

My Issues brings together assigned, created and subscribed issues, with a separate activity view. Its grouping helps you identify urgent work, blockers and current cycle work. If that view and your existing calendar already tell you what to do next, keep the setup.

Linear also has desktop and mobile apps. Use it for the conversations and project context around an issue. Reassign’s connection shows each Linear project with your issues as a Reassign project and syncs priority both ways. Labels and comments stay in Linear, and Reassign has no team project board.

What an extra planner changes

Standup ends at 10. Your next call starts at 11. The issue is due Friday, but you want to work on it this morning.

Connect Linear to Reassign and choose your teams. Issues assigned to you arrive in the Inbox, where you can filter by integration. Dated issues come across first; enable undated imports for each team whose backlog you want to plan.

Connect Google Calendar or Outlook too. Drag the issue into the hour between the meetings. If standup runs late, move the block. The Linear due date stays Friday. A deadline answers when the work must be done; the block reserves time to do it.

The Linear integration guide explains the field-level rules. Titles, plain-text descriptions, due dates and completion sync both ways. Complete a block and the issue moves to your team’s first completed state; reopen it and it moves to the first unstarted state. That does not reproduce every custom workflow transition in Linear.

Turn estimates into a starting duration

Reassign can convert estimates into time per team. Choose 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours per point. With one hour per point, a three-point issue arrives with a three-hour duration.

Treat that as a planning choice. Points are not a measured promise of hours. Resize the block when your own estimate differs.

You also choose whether durations write back to Linear: Off, Only when empty, or Always. Use Only when empty to preserve an estimate a teammate already set. Always can replace that estimate with the nearest point value on the team’s scale. A second work session on the same issue never writes an estimate.

What stays separate

Linear keeps the project context and team workflow. Reassign holds the working hour, your other tasks, meals and evening on the same dial. Focus intervals can divide a long block into work and breaks; the daily review records how the plan went.

An issue reassigned to someone else, canceled, marked duplicate or archived leaves the imported set. Disconnecting stops sync and keeps imported items. Deleting the connected source removes its linked imports from Reassign without deleting issues in Linear.

Price and the decision

Linear’s Free plan lists two teams and 250 issues; paid plans expand the workspace. Your team may already pay for it.

Reassign is an additional $14/month or $120/year. Its seven-day trial needs no card and never charges automatically; paid access is required after it ends. See pricing.

Try one assigned issue, one connected calendar, and one real hour tomorrow. If the dial makes that hour easier to protect, use both. If My Issues already gives you enough direction, stay with Linear alone. If your work lives in a personal task list, read Reassign vs Todoist.

Frequently asked

Is Reassign a replacement for Linear?
No. Linear manages issues and team projects. Reassign plans your working hours around meetings and personal commitments. You can connect Linear and give assigned issues time on the dial while keeping the team's workflow in Linear.
Does scheduling an issue change its Linear due date?
No. Working hours and due dates stay separate. Moving a Reassign block does not change the issue's deadline. Titles, plain-text descriptions, due dates and completion sync both ways.
Can Linear estimates become time blocks?
Yes, when enabled per team in Reassign. Choose how much time one point represents. You can also choose whether block durations write estimates back: Off, Only when empty, or Always. A point is your planning conversion, not a guarantee of how long an issue will take.
Does Reassign import every issue in the workspace?
No. It imports issues assigned to you from selected teams. Dated issues arrive in the Inbox; undated imports are opt-in per team. Each Linear project with your issues shows as a project in Reassign, and the project link and priority sync both ways. Labels and comments stay in Linear.
